The Darkest Depths

The wind rolls in,

strong and cold,

blasting me bitterly,

With a gust I’m pushed down,

deep into the depths of my soul,

deep into the darkness below,

I wrap myself up tightly,

layer myself in distraction,

but nothing warms, nothing distracts, not here.

I’m stuck at the bottom of a pit with no light,

No way to know my way home, to you

I’ll stay here until the light returns, until the guiding sun returns

Days roll into weeks, roll into months,

The sun returns, blaring light guides me

I emerge from the depths to a new green world

The chirp of new life echoes in my ears,

the warmth of the suns rays offer to heal my soul,

in them I bask, until the return of the cold.
