He Would

I miss my dog

I miss his grin

I miss the way he’d lick my chin,

to greet me when I arrived home

I miss how he understood my every mood

Like no-one else could

How he knew how to play by himself

and knew when he should

And when I felt all alone,

needed to be comforted,

he would

Lucky in Love

Into our hearts you walk on all fours

Leaving a mark upon it with your paws

A wagging tale and grinning face

A loyal friend in this lonely place

You give so much, asking little in return

On this earth only briefly, you’ve no lessons to learn

Yet so much knowledge you endow, you teach us so much

your life; only a fraction of those that you touch

How did we get so lucky? What did we do to deserve,

Someone so kind, who’d never duck nor swerve?

A protector always, no care for their own pain

No issue do they have when you’re going insane.
